Things to Do in Estonia

Estonia is easy to explore at different paces: a short walk through Tallinn, an indoor museum day, or a longer trip into nature. Pick a route that fits the weather and the time you actually have. Check opening hours and admission on each attraction’s official site before leaving.

A first day in Tallinn

Begin in the Old Town around Town Hall Square, then allow time for the upper town and its viewpoints. The historic streets include slopes and cobblestones, so comfortable shoes help. Visit Tallinn’s city guide is a useful starting point for deciding what to see and for checking current visitor details.

Museums and a family day

The Seaplane Harbour is a maritime museum with a historic submarine and other ship exhibits. For art and park time, consider Kadriorg, where Kumu and other museums are near the park. Choose one area for a relaxed half-day instead of trying to cross the city between every attraction.

A day outside the city

Lahemaa National Park offers coastal villages, manor houses and bog landscapes. Decide whether to rent a car, use a guided tour, or plan public transport after checking the actual route and return time. Day tours can change with the season and weather.

One more day: Tartu or Pärnu

If you have a second day beyond Tallinn, choose one destination. Tartu is a good fit for museums and a walk through the university city; Pärnu suits a beach, park or spa day. Visit Estonia’s train guide helps you plan Tartu, while its Pärnu guide helps you choose what to see there. Check the current timetable and last return with the transport operator before committing to an activity.

When the weather changes

Keep one indoor choice ready rather than trying to rescue a long outdoor route in heavy rain. In Tallinn, choose the Seaplane Harbour for ships and maritime history, or Kumu for art alongside Kadriorg. On a dry day, the Viru Bog boardwalk offers a focused nature outing within Lahemaa. Check the trail information and conditions before travelling.

Sea trips and island days

Explore ferries to Saaremaa, Hiiumaa and smaller islands, or compare sailing trips and yacht outings. Check the return crossing, weather conditions and departure harbour before planning the rest of your day.

Spas and evenings out

Choose a water and sauna day from our regional spa guide. For concerts, bars and other evening plans, see nightlife and entertainment in Estonia.
