Trip Budget Calculator: Compare Three Travel Options

NORQENTA · FREE PLANNING TOOL

What will your trip really cost?

Compare the complete trip before booking. A cheap flight can become the expensive choice once baggage, transfers and accommodation are included.

Enter your own quotes in one currency. The starting numbers below are a worked example, not live prices, destination estimates or supplier offers. Nothing is sent to a server. Comparison snapshots stay only in this open page and disappear when you reload it.

Build your travel budget

Compare three versions of your trip

Enter the costs for one version above, then save it in a slot below. Change the inputs and save the next version. Each button replaces only its own slot. Use one currency for all versions.

No versions saved yet.

Compare the same travellers and nights for a fair comparison. Snapshots do not update when you change the calculator. Reloading clears them.

Read the budget correctly

The result is the cost for everyone travelling, including the contingency you choose. The per-person figure divides that total equally; it does not imply that an adult and a child pay identical ticket prices. Keep every input in the same currency. This calculator does not convert currencies, check availability or fetch supplier prices.

A worked example: four travellers, seven nights

Using the illustrative numbers above: return fares cost 800, baggage and seats 120, accommodation 980, food 960, transport 180, activities 240 and other costs 80. The subtotal is 3,360. A 10% contingency adds 336, producing a total of 3,696 currency units, or 924 per traveller. Change the inputs to match your own quotes.

The formula

Subtotal = travellers × return fare + baggage and seat fees + nights × group accommodation per night + travellers × (nights + 1) × daily food + transport + activities + other costs.

Total = subtotal × (1 + contingency percentage ÷ 100). For unusually early departures or late returns, adjust the food allowance rather than assuming every travel day needs the same spending.

Compare two offers fairly

QuestionWhat to include
Which airport?Transfer fare for everyone, waiting time and the last onward connection.
Which hotel location?Total room price plus transport to the places you will visit.
Which baggage allowance?Return cost for the bags you need, with dimensions and weight confirmed.
Which meal plan?Meals already covered and the remaining daily food budget.
Which attraction ticket? The full group price, age bands, date restrictions and any required reservation.
Which cancellation terms?Compare flexibility separately; a cheaper non-refundable offer is not equivalent.

Three ways to use the result

  1. Budget version: reduce the number of paid activities and compare public transport with the group taxi quote. Keep arrival and departure times practical.
  2. Comfort version: test a more central hotel. Increase the room cost, then reduce only the transport costs you can realistically avoid.
  3. Experience version: keep one priority activity and price it accurately. Remove low-priority extras rather than filling every day.

Calculate each version separately and save it in a comparison slot above. Select Print or Save as PDF in your browser to keep a version before changing its inputs.

Before you pay

  • Check the final checkout total for all travellers, not just the advertised starting fare.
  • Confirm which taxes, luggage, meals and transfers are included so that you do not count them twice.
  • Read the operator’s refund and change conditions and check the accommodation address.
  • Recheck any amount quoted in another currency before entering it here.
  • Keep funds available for unplanned costs; your chosen contingency is only a budgeting assumption.
