Tallinn Airport to City Centre: Tram, Taxi & Transfers

Last checked: September 27, 2026. Tallinn Airport (Lennart Meri Tallinn Airport) is only about 4 km from the city centre, so getting into central Tallinn is usually quick and straightforward.

Quick answer

For most visitors, the simplest public-transport option is a tram. Lines T2 and T4 connect Tallinn Airport with central Tallinn. A one-hour public-transport ticket costs €2 and can be purchased with a contactless bank card on board or from the airport ticket machine.

By tram: usually the easiest option

The airport stop is called Lennujaam. Follow the public-transport signs from the arrivals hall to the airport transport centre. Tram T2 runs from the airport through central Tallinn and continues via the Old City Harbour towards Kopli. Tram T4 also connects the airport with the city centre.

For central Tallinn, useful stops include Hobujaama on T2 and A. Laikmaa, Viru and Vabaduse väljak on T4. The T2 journey between the airport and central Tallinn takes roughly 15 minutes.

How to pay for public transport

The easiest option for many visitors is to use a contactless bank card at a validator inside the vehicle. A one-hour ticket costs €2. Tallinn public transport generally operates from around 05:00 until midnight, with separate night buses on Friday and Saturday nights.

For live routes and departure times, use the official Tallinn transport journey planner.

By taxi or ride service

The official taxi stand is outside the arrivals hall. Visit Tallinn gives an approximate airport-to-centre taxi price of around €15. The actual fare can vary with destination, traffic and provider, so check the estimated or metered price before starting the trip.

When a private transfer makes sense

A pre-booked transfer can be worth comparing if you are arriving very late, travelling with children, carrying several large bags, travelling as a group or staying somewhere inconvenient by public transport. Always check the pickup point, included waiting time, luggage allowance and cancellation terms.

Which option should you choose?

Choose the tram if you want a low-cost, simple journey into central Tallinn and your luggage is manageable. Choose a taxi or ride service if you want door-to-door convenience. Compare a private transfer when timing, luggage, children or group size make predictability more important than the lowest price.
